100% Recycled Fence Posts

Turning engineered plastic into posts

They say that every product has its time. But rarely is a product so needed as the new Composite Post. Not only are they high quality and long lasting but they have definite environmental advantages too!

First the posts are literally made from rubbish – or more accurately a range of industrial plastics and polymers which would otherwise be destined for landfill. Previously, these industrial plastics have not been able to be recycled into usable products which make the Composite Post a first.

Second, the posts offer an alternative to CCA treated pine posts which means they are a better choice for you and the environment.

Applications

Composite Posts are the perfect choice for many areas some of which include:

  • Horse studs
  • Environmental dune fencing
  • High salinity areas
  • Oyster leases and other aquaculture
  • Feedlots
  • Vineyards

Installation

Composite Posts are easy to handle and can be drilled, screwed or worked just like timber using the same tools. Plus, composite posts are suitable for use with mechanical pile driving and vine harvesters. No chemical treatment is required nor insulation when used in an electric fence.

Note: As this is a recycled product, some variation to texture and appearance may occur, however, this will not impact the performance of the product.

Features & Benefits

  • Long lasting: strength and stability means less maintenance & replacement costs.
  • Friendly to the environment: 100% recycled and recyclable
  • 150 Posts saves a semi-trailer worth of industrial plastic going to landfill.
  • Unfriendly to bugs: impervious to fungal attack, rot, borers and termites which means less replacement time and cost.
  • Friendly to you: no treating or chemical sprays required which helps sustain a healthier environment.

CSIRO Study findings

Smorgon Steel have commissioned several studies with the CSIRO. These studies subjected composite posts 2000 hours of groundwater, seawater and accelerated weathering.

The CSIRO found that there was no significant change to its mass and dimensions, nor significant deterioration in the compression or flexibility strength.
