Hardy Lawn Blend

  • Withstands wear and tear
  • Nice thick lawn
  • Requires less water and fertiliser

Hardy Lawn Blend is a good hardy mix with quite a high percentage of fine lawn grasses to give a nice thick lawn.
As its name implies it is hardy and will withstand a lot of wear and tear without lots of water and fertilising. Usually a rotary mower is needed to mow this mix.
Hardy Lawn Blend is ideal for the active family who enjoy outdoor recreation on a nice looking, thick & tough lawn. Fast establishing and suitable for oversowing.
Sowing Rate: 1 kg sows 20 square metres.

Sowing Instructions

  • Best sown in Autumn or Spring
  • Sow into a well prepared seedbed cultivated to a depth of at least 5cm
  • Rake the soil to make a smooth surface free of debris
  • Apply a prepared lawn starter fertiliser and rake in
  • Spread seed half in a north-south direction and half in a east-west direction and rake lightly
  • Water frequently with a fine spray and keep surface damp at all times until the seed has germinated and the lawn is established

Oasis (Watersaver) Lawn Blend

  • Saves water
  • Requires minimal maintenance
  • Tolerates wear and shade
  • Maintains dark green colour

The Oasis (Watersaver) Lawn Blend is the newest of the Stephen Pasture Seeds lawn seed range and was trialled and tested for three years before its release onto the lawn seed market.
The turf fescue that is the predominant grass in this blend is very deep rooted and drought tolerant. It has a very dark green colour and will tolerate wear and shade.
Minimum mowing height should be 1.5" and if this height is maintained the Oasis (Watersaver) Lawn Blend will use less water than any other lawn mixes. Oasis will also stay a very dark green colour requiring minimal maintenance. A rotary mower is recommended. Fescue is slower to establish than ryegrass, so therefore allow a little extra time for establishment.
Sowing Rate: 1 kg sows 25 square metres.

Why Sow a Lawn?

  • A lawn area of 15m x15m produces enough oxygen to meet the daily needs of a family of four.
  • A well maintained lawn provides a soft green surface which significantly reduces glare and is always 10 degrees cooler than adjacent paths and concrete.
  • L awns reduce noise and erosion.
  • Well maintained lawns add to a homes value.
  • Lawns absorb a lot of carbon dioxide.
  • L awns provide a great recreational area for all of the family and they look great.

Other Turf species stocked by CRT Kyneton include:

  • Turf Fescue - A perennial cool season grass, with a coarse leaf and very good drought and shade tolerance.
  • Kentucky Bluegrass - A perennial, cool season grass, with a finer leaf width (2-3mm) with a blue green colour.
  • Turf Type Ryegrass - A perennial, cool season grass with a medium leaf width and very fast to establish. Ideal for a quality lawn.
  • Fine Fescue - A very fine textured turf (1mm) much like needles but very dark in colour, very good shade tolerance, perfect species to blend with others for a quality mix.
