Maxima Plus Forage Rape

  • Improved animal acceptability over Rangi and other rapes
  • Good aphid resistance
  • Excellent drought resistance
Lamb Liveweight Gain Trial "MERRINA" GUNDAGAI, 1998-1999
Maxima Plus is a medium height, early maturing (70-85 days) finishing forage rape bred for improved animal performance. Maxima Plus incorporates the pest resistance and stem softness of kale and the palatability and earlier finishing qualities of rape.
Pest Tolerance
Whilst slightly lower yielding than some of the newer rapes, stock seem to adapt to Maxima Plus much quicker than other rapes and will gain weight faster. This ensures that the best quality leafy feed is not wasted whilst stock adjust to the feed.
Maxima Plus is also the most aphid resistant rape and should be used in areas where aphids are likely to be a problem.
Gundagai lamb liveweight gain trial

In a three replicate lamb liveweight gain trial at Gundagai, Dorset cross lambs stocked at 48 lambs/ha achieved higher liveweight gains at a faster rate grazing Maxima Plus compared with lambs from the same draft grazing Rangi.
The lambs on Maxima Plus achieved 261 kg/ha liveweight gain over a single grazing period compared with 221 kg/ha from the lambs grazing Rangi.
