Tekapo Cocksfoot

  • Good tolerance to drought
  • Highly persistent
  • Suitable for set stocking and hard rotational grazing by sheep
  • Improved animal performance

A high quality cocksfoot with good drought tolerance and proven animal production benefits. Grasslands TEKAPO Cocksfoot is an early flowering cocksfoot with proven animal production benefits. It is less dominating than other fine leafed cocksfoots, allowing for a higher clover content in the sward. TEKAPO Cocksfoot is highly persistent and is well
adapted to set stocking regimes and drought. Its prostrate, densely tillered growth habit makes it ideal for set stocking and hard rotational grazing by sheep. TEKAPO has shown improved feed quality through the summer months compared with Grasslands Wana, indicating that TEKAPO is more palatable, thus increasing animal intake and production.

MANAGEMENT TIPS

  • Tekapo should be sown in early autumn or spring as a companion grass with compatible species at a rate of 1 - 3 kg/ha.
  • Tekapo should be well grazed during the spring period to enable good tillering and to encourage high clover content in the sward.
