Tahora White Clover

  • Highly persistent
  • Suited to sheep grazing
  • High nitrogen fixation
  • Proven wool production benefits

Superior nitrogen fixation and persistence even under hard grazing. Grasslands TAHORA is a small leafed, prostrate white clover which has a much higher stolon density and a more finely branched fibrous root system than most other white clovers. Due to its growth habit, TAHORA is better adapted to tolerate drought and to persist and perform under rotational grazing conditions, and with care, set stocking by sheep. In mixes it will remain at the bottom of the sward fixing nitrogen and increasing pasture productivity. TAHORA is an easy care white clover, that persists well even under low fertility. White clover is known for its exceptional forage quality and resultant animal production. TAHORA exhibits a greater ability to fix nitrogen than other clovers; with up to 23% more nitrogen fixed than Grasslands Huia and 60% more than resident white clover.

Animal Performance...

Tahora has demonstrated increased animal productivity in a New Zealand grazing trial. The resulting increase in pasture, even under set stocking, allows 2 extra lambs to be carried per hectare, while obtaining 0.7kg extra liveweight per lamb under grazing trials.

MANAGEMENT TIPS

  • Grasslands Tahora combines well with a wide range of grasses and should be sown in a mixture at 1 - 3 kg/ha.
  • Tahora is best established in the spring under a summer forage crop or with Endura caucasian clover.
  • We recommend the use of Superstrike seed treatment.
