WL 342HQ-MF Lucerne

  • Very high multifoliate expression
  • Leafy, dark green and fine stemmed
  • Outstanding pest resistance
  • Superior palatability and digestibility
  • Winter dormant (4) Multifoliate for specialist high quality hay production

WL 342HQ-MF is the first multifoliate lucerne released by Wrightson in Australia. As part of the replacement program for WL 320, we decided to skip WL 325HQ and commercialise WL 342 due to its higher yield, more rapid recovery after harvest or grazing and outstanding quality and pest resistance. WL 342HQ-MF is a breakthrough in lucerne technology for growers looking for a winter dormant variety. It will be ideal for early autumn sowing in mild coastal areas, or spring sowing in cool climate regions of south east Australia. Its pedigree is impressive scoring a perfect Disease Resistance Index (30/30) in US screening, topping yield trials in 20 US state University trials under 3, 4 and 5 harvest programs. And in Australia it has proven to outyield locally marketed dormant varieties and show a very high level of multi-foliate expression

What the producers say...

Peter Gericke, mixed farmer, Naracoorte
“WL 342HQ-MF was quick out of the ground. It was both grazed and cut for hay in its first year and the stock found it very palatable. It held very well in the bale”.
Steve Chaston, lamb producer, Naracoorte
“It held its multifoliate trait well from soon after establishment until after flowering. Compared to other lucerne varieties I have sown, the leaf to stem ratio of WL 342HQ-MF was excellent”.
