Bred for highest quality hay and
livestock production
WL 525HQ is a consistently high yielding, high quality lucerne.
Dairy producers and hay-makers appreciate the exceptional speed
of recovery after cutting, superior stand persistence and strong
package of pest and disease resistance traits. Its winter activity
offers opportune grazing in winter when feed is often scarce.
WL 525HQ is the recommended variety for irrigated dairy
producers, for specialist hay producers and those looking to finish
lambs or cattle.

What the producers say...
Peter Henderson and John McKeown, dairy producer, Orbost VIC
Looking for persistence and palatability, they settled on Wrightson Seeds’
highly winter-active WL 525HQ lucerne.
“We were careful to follow all of the recommendations and sowing rates
for WL 525HQ,” Peter said. “It struck well. We nursed it a little and got a
cut of hay and three cuts of silage from it, applying a potash mix every
second cut.”
In 2005 Peter and John have sowed WL 525HQ to the entire 31ha
paddock, and they're keen to keep using it in the long term. “We’ve been lucky with the rain this year and we got a heap off the
previous cut,” Peter said. “We’re very happy with this lucerne. It looks
strong, and should keep going for six or seven years if we look after it. “We expect to get six cuts off the paddock this year. It’s good quality and
the cows seem to love it - they just stand there and eat it until it's all gone. “A quality feed base is very important to our business, and using
WL 525HQ has enabled us to keep it up when milk prices are at their
highest. We have more control over the availability of quality feed and
that’s good for my peace of mind.”
John Coleman, Toogoolawah QLD
Don tried a 3ha block on his property in autumn 2004. “The WL 525HQ
established very well producing high quality hay all year round compared
to some other varieties used in the past on the property. The stand
produced high quality hay due to the fine stems and high retention of leaf
in the bale.
The stand has only got better and I will be ordering more WL 525HQ for
this season’s planting.”
Reg and Damien Sweeney, Dunedoo NSW
“So far so good. WL 525HQ is coming up with the goods. I’m getting
good feedback from racehorse owners and trainers. The hay is some of
the best I’ve had anything to do with,” said Reg.
