Correct Vaccination Technique and Instructions |
To minimize carcass damage and to prevent further infection after vaccination, it is important to give careful attention to vaccination technique and hygiene. To avoid carcass damage it is important to:
Storage of Vaccines It is recommended to store all of the Coopers vaccines in a refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C. Vaccines should be protected from light and used before the expiry date marked on the label. The use of an insulated container is recommended during the day to protect the vaccine. If vaccine is to be hung beside the race, ensure it is on the shady side. Once opened, it is recommended that the vaccine be used up within 24 hours and any remaining vaccine after this time should be discarded. Resealing Instructions A partially used pack can be kept for use the next day if the following steps are taken:
Withholding Periods All of the Coopers vaccines have a Nil Meat and Milk Withholding Period. Ultrafiltration Process All of the Coopers vaccines manufactured at the Global Vaccine Unit undergo a process of ultrafiltration to purify the antigens in the vaccine. This process removes impurities, which helps to minimize site reactions, and maximizes animal immune response. |
